At The Vein Institute of Toronto&trade;, we have developed our own method of performing Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (EVRFA) for varicose veins through our research, patient feedback, extensive procedure experience and use of the latest medical technology. At The Vein Institute of Toronto&trade;, we utilize the ClosureFast&trade; catheter, the latest in technology, that enables controlled vein lumen contraction for a fast and effective treatment. We also utilize a unique micropuncture technique to insert the radiofrequency catheter, which minimizes patient discomfort and has led to a 98% technical success rate in performing the procedure.

Radiofrequency (Closure™)

At the Vein Institute Of Toronto, we are proud to offer one of the newest endovenous ablation technologies, ClariVein&trade; to treat patients with varicose veins. Unlike other thermal-based endovenous techniques such as endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) or radiofrequency ablation, Endovenous Clarivein&reg; treatment does not employ heat to promote closure of treated veins.

ClariVein™ (MOCA)

The VenaSeal&trade; Sapheon Closure System is a unique, minimally invasive treatment that uses a safe-for-the-body medical glue to quickly and effectively treat varicose veins . Using ultrasound, Dr. Sanjoy Kundu will guide a tiny catheter through a small access site in the skin and into the diseased area of the vein. Next, the VenaSeal&trade; dispenser delivers a very small amount of medical glue to close the vein. Once the affected vein is closed, blood is immediately re-routed through other healthy veins in the leg.

VenaSeal™

Varicose veins are more than just an eyesore. Sometimes they hurt and make everyday life uncomfortable. All veins have valves that act like traffic signals, opening and closing to make sure blood is always flowing the correct direction. Varicose veins are veins with broken valves. In a varicose vein, blood flows backward and stays in the vein. This causes the vein to expand, stretch, and become twisted, which prevents it from circulating blood effectively.

Endovenous Ablation Therapy

Ambulatory Phlebectomy is a minimally invasive surgical method used to remove surface varicose veins in the office by applying tumescent local anesthesia. When we administer tumescent anesthesia, the tissues are flooded with dilute liquid anesthetic and become distended. The large volume of fluid causes vessels to be compressed resulting in minimal bleeding.&nbsp;

Microphlebectomy

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to eliminate varicose veins veins. The procedure involves an injection of a solution directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel causing the vein to close. Over the course of weeks to months the veins fade and disappear.
